I hope you have been incorporating our previous Du’as in your daily life. However, it is not just du’as that can benefit you. How do you think you can gain multiple rewards from Allah even during the simple act of meeting another Muslim? By shaking hands with them, by smiling at them, and by greeting them with Salam, you can fulfill 3 sunnahs at once! Read on.. Shortcut # 7 – Shaking Hands with a Smile In previous episodes of Shortcut to Jannah we sketched many reward-ful yet simple activites that can hep us earn God’s satisfaction and thus grant us entry to His Jannah (Paradise) inshaAllah. Among such simple acts is a premuim social activity, a purely human manner- it’s Greetings, the Salam. Islam teaches that a simple act such as smiling when meeting your fellow Muslim is a sadaqah (charity), similarly is offering the Salam (Muslim greeting; saying assalamu alikum wa rahmat Allah wa barakato- peace be upon you)… “Do not consider any of the good things as insignificant – even if it is that you meet your brother with a cheerful face.” (Muslim, The book of Piety and Muslim, The Book of Eeman, Hadeeth 2626) Did you also know that your sins are forgiven when you shake hands? “There are not two Muslims who meet each other and shake hands, except that they are forgiven before they depart (from each other).” — (Aboo Daawood, The Book of Good Manners. Muslim, The Book of Eeman, Hadeeth 5212. At-Tirmidhi, The Book of Asking Permissionand Good Manners, Muslim, The Book of Eeman, Hadeeth 2727) Also, when meeting your fellow Muslim, do greet him with the full and complete Salam when you can, as you will obtain the reward of Thirty good deeds! So remember, next time you meet your Muslim brother, greet him with salaam, smile and shake hands for huge rewards!
